Manchester United

The biggest decision Jose Mourinho has to make this summer (Not Ibrahimovic)

There is a massive summer ahead for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, with some huge decisions needing to be made about current players and future investment.

The Red Devils supporters lining the bar here in the pub have been quick to point out the need to change things around in the coming weeks following a disappointing domestic campaign last time out.

Despite their Cup and Europa League success, it’s clear United need a strong squad that will serve them better in the Premier League next time around and part of that includes making big decisions about key members of the squad.

And one of those is Wayne Rooney, who’s future is set to be resolved sooner rather than later.

The captain and former England international has found himself on the fringes of the United team in recent weeks and if he’s to start playing regularly again, he’s going to have to leave Old Trafford.

Mourinho has found a spine of a team that doesn’t include him and that’s fine but the priority for Rooney now must be looking for a new club and discovering a team that he will fit into ahead of the upcoming season.

There’s little doubt that Rooney has the quality to play at this level still but we’re still to see whether he’ll be moving abroad or having another shot at it here in England.

But he’s a big earner at the club and getting him off the books if he’s not going to be a part of first-team proceedings next season needs to be a priority for Mourinho going forward.

It’s one of a few things that needs to be sorted this summer.
