The atmosphere amongst the Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern has been far from positive in recent days following their defeat over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
The resident Blues faithful watched on with dismay on Wednesday night as their side crashed out of the Carabao Cup with no more than a whimper against a resolute Arsenal side. Chelsea’s exit from the competition was another footnote in Chelsea’s disappointing season so far which has been characterised by tensions between Antonio Conte and the Chelsea hierarchy.
The Italian manager has persistently spoke of his frustration with the lack of depth within his squad this season, despite the fact Chelsea have spent £195.12 million on transfers since the Summer of 2017. And according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the Club are beginning to become frustrated by Conte’s public criticism of their transfer strategy.

Solhekol’s tweet has provoked plenty of discussion amongst the Chelsea supporters who are firmly divided on Conte’s attitude and the quality of the clubs transfer targets so far this month.
Plenty of supporters have taken Conte’s side in the debate and claimed that the board have failed him with their transfers this season, but a handful of fans appear to be growing tired of Conte’s excuses as they believe they lack validity considering their level of spending since the summer.
Here’s what the supporters on Twitter have had to say about Conte and his relationship with the club’s hierarchy…
He bangs on about not being able to spend the way United and City do, but Chelsea have spent more than United have since the end of last season. He's just struggling this year because it's a level playing field, no week off between every game.

It is not about spending huge amount, it is about choosing his targets. The board choose for him and choose players he doesn't want. He has every right to be frustrated.

I’m not defending the board but I’m tired of him whining his job is Head Coach not coach and make the players better stop complaining and trying to buy old experienced players to win the league! All his buys in SerieA didn’t win a single cup competition! Match fixing scandal

Good! They shud give the man what he wants.

But Antonio has every right to be frustrated. If it takes embarrassment for the owner to sign quality instead of midtable quality players then so be it. You cant give s chef a quarter of ingredients and expect them to make a nice cake.

What we have a transfer policy..and does that include 37 year old Peter Crouch instead of Sanchez..fair dos to Conte I'd have walked out long ago!
— Mark Moylan (@markmoylan) January 25, 2018
Conte has every right to do so! The club is letting him and the fans down!

Conte does not criticize them enough. The Board is inept.

I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with that joke of a board @ChelseaFC.
