‘The board is inept’, ‘Stop complaining’ – Chelsea fans mixed over club’s transfer policy on Twitter

The atmosphere amongst the Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern has been far from positive in recent days following their defeat over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

The resident Blues faithful watched on with dismay on Wednesday night as their side crashed out of the Carabao Cup with no more than a whimper against a resolute Arsenal side. Chelsea’s exit from the competition was another footnote in Chelsea’s disappointing season so far which has been characterised by tensions between Antonio Conte and the Chelsea hierarchy.

The Italian manager has persistently spoke of his frustration with the lack of depth within his squad this season, despite the fact Chelsea have spent £195.12 million on transfers since the Summer of 2017. Solhekol’s tweet has provoked plenty of discussion amongst the Chelsea supporters who are firmly divided on Conte’s attitude and the quality of the clubs transfer targets so far this month.

Plenty of supporters have taken Conte’s side in the debate and claimed that the board have failed him with their transfers this season, but a handful of fans appear to be growing tired of Conte’s excuses as they believe they lack validity considering their level of spending since the summer.

Here’s what the supporters on Twitter have had to say about Conte and his relationship with the club’s hierarchy…
