And the 2014 transfer window proved to be no exception with the general feeling amongst Blues fans being that this could well have been the window which saw Mourinho change his squad from ‘nearly men’ to Premier League champions.

The arrivals of Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Didier Drogba, Filipe Luis and Loic Remy have got Chelsea fans buzzing for the new season – especially the way in which Fabregas and Costa have started life at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho now has a squad capable of competing with the very best in Europe and ‘the Special One will view the 2014/15 season as a major disappointment if it does not end with either the Premier League or Champions League trophy.

But despite the five major signings being added to a squad capable already of competing at the very highest level, the Blues were – as is always the case – linked with a host of big name stars from across Europe.
