West Ham fans here in the Tavern will be happy once the season is over and they have guaranteed their Premier League status for another year following a disappointing campaign which saw them flirting with relegation rather than challenging for European football, as was expected at the London Stadium.
When Slaven Bilic was sacked in November, West Ham fans were left scratching their heads at who would be the man to turn their season around. David Moyes was the man placed in the increasingly uncomfortable hotseat by David Gold and David Sullivan and has all but guaranteed the Hammers safety with one win from their final five games surely being enough to secure their top-flight status.
However, it hasn’t been all plain sailing for the former Manchester United and Sunderland manager with many criticising his negative tactics throughout the season despite the improved results in London. With news circulating that Moyes will be kept on beyond the end of the season, the fans of the East London club will be keen for the board to examine other options.
