Chelsea forged a huge comeback win this weekend to take the spoils against Southampton and they had January signing Olivier Giroud to thank in the main, with the big Frenchman bagging twice as the Blues stirred back to win three points.
In the main though, the season has been a disapointment for our Blues punters here in the Tavern, and our landlord has spent plenty of his time speaking with the Chelsea fans about what might have gone wrong.
A big thing which seems to be a recurring theme is the poor quality the side has in the middle of the park compared to some of their rivals, and our landlord thinks the club need to go out and add some real class in this area in the summer.
One such player who has sprung to mind is Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans, who has once again been in superb form for Monaco this term over in France.
Tielemans is yet another player to come off the current line of top quality players emerging from the small European nation, and at just 20, he has the potential to develop further and become a mainstay of the Chelsea midfield, much like Frank Lampard did in years gone by.
His form for Monaco has been excellent, and he is also a regular with his national side Belgium. With the likes of Cesc Fabregas on the decline and Tiemoue Bakayoko showing nothing so far during his time with the club, Tielemans could well be the ideal sort of signing at the Bridge.
C helsea fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
