Arsenal fans head into the weekend knowing their FA Cup quarter final clash with Everton has taken on added significance.
Last week’s horror show at Stoke City left Arsene Wenger’s men trailing league leaders Chelsea by four points, whilst also slipping down to third place, with Liverpool climbing to second on goal difference.
The critics have been quick to point out that this is the time in the season when Arsenal usually crumble, and have pointed to the 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League as further evidence.
Talk of the trophy drought continues to fly around the Emirates Stadium, with manager Arsene Wenger knowing there is only so long he can claim fourth spot is equal to a trophy.
And failure to end that drought this year will be a particularly bitter pill to swallow, since Arsenal have led the Premier League table for large portions of the season.
Some may point to the fact Wenger failed to strengthen his side in Janaury – unless you are willing to count a crocked 31-year-old Swedish midfielder – should Arsenal fail to achieve their goals of silverware.
The club are reportedly set to spend big in the summer however, so with that in mind we have come up with what we would consider the dream starting XI for Arsenal to kick off next season with.
