Liverpool fans have thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the Football Transfer Tavern this season, and have enjoyed a weekend off watching their rivals in action.
The 3-0 win over Southampton last weekend took Brendan Rodgers’ side into 2nd place in the table, just four points behind leaders Chelsea, and six points clear of fifth placed Tottenham. The Blues of course extended the gap at the top to seven points today.
The Reds are also the Premeir League’s top scorers with 73, and boast the league’s most devastating strike force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool fans are starting to not only dream that this could be their year, but are starting to believe it for real.
Rodgers has continued to insist the priority remains the top four, and Champions League football for the first time since 2009.
That in itself would be a fantastic achievement, and would provide funds that would allow Rodgers to go after the ‘next level’ signings he has talked about previously.
There are still areas in which the Reds can improve, particularly defensivley.
They have shipped 35 goals in the Premier League this season – only Newcastle United in the top half have conceded more – and managed only four clean sheets since September 1st.
With this in mind, we take a look at what we would consider to be a dream starting XI for the Reds next season.
