Here in the Transfer Tavern we’ve continued to toast Frank Lampard today.
The ex-England international confirmed his full retirement yesterday after months of speculation wondering where he might end up.
Certainly, many Chelsea fans here by the bar wanted to see him back with their club whilst others also felt he could have done a job so he has gone out on a high.
Indeed, he can look back on a career full of triumphs and trophies but, according to The Daily Star, had the offer to prolong his career for just one more season.
That’s because his former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini offered him the chance to go out to China with an absolutely staggering pay-day to boot.

Reportedly the former Stamford Bridge man would have earned £16 million in one year had he agreed to go out to the Far-East and follow in the footsteps of his former team-mate Oscar amongst others.
Instead, though, Lampard decided to call it a day and our landlord thinks that proves that he always put his love of the game ahead of any financial rewards.
