Manchester United

The key Manchester United man who must step up in Ibrahimovic’s absense (Not Rashford)

There’s a big season on the horizon for Manchester United and manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are under massive pressure to improve their league placing after their Premier League struggles last time out and despit ewinning both the Carling Cup and Europa League, domestic success is what the supporters want most.

But they’re going to be doing it without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been released by manager Jose Mourinho, presumably because of his long-term injury.

So without the influential Swede on the books next time around, who can we expect to be stepping up for the Red Devils instead?

Well, there’s one man we’re going to have our eye on and that’s attacking midfielder Juan Mata, who didn’t have a massive role to play in the first-team last season.

The Spaniard was widely expected to leave Old Trafford when Mourinho arrived, but he stayed on the books and we’re tipping him to really step up and shine next season.

He’s an influential player who can really make things happen on the pitch and it’s important for him to pick things up and really play well next time out.

If there’s ever been a time where United need their big stars, it’s now.
