‘The legend of the Kop’ – Liverpool supporters delighted with club announcement on Twitter

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were celebrating a third straight victory for their club this weekend.

The Reds made light work of their return to Premier League action after the international break, as they comfortably dispatched of Mauricio Pellegrino’s Southampton side 3-0 at Anfield. Mohamed Salah continued his fabulous goal-scoring record since returning to the Premier League with a brace before half-time, before Philippe Coutinho put the game well beyond the Saints in the 68th minute.

And the Anfield faithful propping up the bar here believe that the performances of Salah in the early phase of his Liverpool career already suggest that he may be destined to become a legendary figure at the club.

Yet former Reds captain Steven Gerrard has commanded a legendary status at the club for many years already, and he delivered a message to the fans on the club’s Twitter page earlier today concerning a handful of other club greats.

Gerrard’s message revealed that a charity match will take place on the 24th March between Liverpool legends and Bayern Munich legends, a match that Gerrard will naturally be involved in.

The Liverpool fans on Twitter could hardly contain their delight at the thought of Gerrard in a Liverpool shirt once again along with the likes of Robbie Fowler, Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso.

Here’s how the Reds fans reacted to the news…
