The short answer is probably not. But if poor old Roy Hodgson is given enough time to make a purchase, following last night’s calamitous display against Wolves, then he will invest in Southampton’s young starlet, the brilliantly named Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Oxlade-Chamberlain (let’s call him Chambo for short) has been dubbed ‘the next Theo Walcott’, and I’m assuming that is meant to be a compliment. A pacy winger, with trickery and surprising maturity, Chambo scored and was arguably man of the match in the game that Liverpool Strategy Director Damien Comolli went to watch. At Southampton vs Huddersfield, Comolli clearly stated his intentions with Chambo and must have been impressed.
Now here comes the bidding war and the January transfer window. Will Roy be around long enough to test Southampton’s resolve? Will Comolli get his man? Will Dalglish buy him anyway if he is the next man in the Anfield hotseat?
All questions that you suspect will be answered very soon.
