Competition is always going to be high at Old Trafford but for one promising individual in particular, it’s been a seriously disappointing campaign.
The promising Timothy Fosu-Mensah hasn’t been given the opportunity to shine nearly as much under Jose Mourinho as he did a couple of years ago under Louis van Gaal and its shown in his development.
There had been thought that with more first-team minutes, the Dutch youngster might have made the breakthrough into the first-team just like Marcus Rashford did.
But his match action has been reduced under Jose Mourinho this time out and despite a couple of cameo appearances towards the end of the current campaign, we really haven’t seen a lot from him, which has been a shame.
He’s a player that at 18-years-old, needs first-team minutes at this level or an equivalent around the world. Whilst players his age are making a real name for themselves in the first-teams of their respective clubs, he’s sitting on the bench far too much without showing the United management what he can do.
But if he does get the chance to head out over the summer months, the pressure will be on him to really show the United bosses what he can do moving forward.
He’s a versatile, talented young man but during this stage of his career, he needs to be on the pitch.
Requesting a loan move away from Old Trafford this summer would certainly be best for the sake of his career.
United fans- do you still see a future for Fosu Mensah under Mourinho? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
