Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we are still in mourning regarding the close of the transfer window and the fact that we can no longer spend our days chatting with the landlord about potential targets while taking advantage of the two for one deals on pies – not to mention the champagne our landlord cracked open when Arsenal landed Mesut Ozil (and all for free as well!)
Now we are left preparing for the winter and getting the mulled wine on the go while talking about the players that teams that could have landed during the recent window of opportunity.
No side had a more disappointing summer than Manchester United and add to that their rather disappointing start to the season and there are certainly whispers of discontent at Old Trafford.
As our punters note, bringing in Marouane Fellaini was a good move, but to only bring in the Belgium international was not exactly what United fans were hoping for – especially given how well their rivals have strengthened this summer and how that has shown when looking at the league table.
With that in mind, here is the Manchester United ‘transfer XI’ they could have had this summer.
