For those who don’t know I’m quite a keen gambler when it comes to football. Hopefully this will be a regular feature where I give you readers the chance to follow my weekend bet. I can’t guarantee you’ll win every week but I’ve been betting properly on football for about two years and I’m winning the battle with Ladbrokes. I won’t tell you how much I’m up but its three figures.
To give you an idea, and hopefully some confidence in me, I’ll share a couple of the wins I’ve had recently. Before the World Cup I bet Diego Forlan (each way) to be top scorer. I got odds of 50/1. A fiver each way meant a return of about £140. When AC Milan won the Champions League in 2005 they were considered outsiders believe it or not.
I backed them to the tune of £10 at 20/1 before the tournament. So hopefully you’ll be convinced I’m not a mug and actually consider giving my tips a go. Let me put it this way, for anyone who has read Derek McGovern in The Mirror, you’re better off taking tips off me. That bloke is useless.
So for the weekend Premiership games I tend to do a team that are 50/50 to win and a team that are outsiders that I fancy. You won’t ever catch me betting Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal ‘cause it just isn’t worth it. So this weekend I am betting the following (all odds are based on Ladbrokes).
Blackpool vs Fulham DRAW 9/4 and Wolves vs Newcastle AWAY WIN 2/1
A double gets you just short of 9/1. It depends what you want to wager but I always put £10 on.
I can’t see Fulham winning at Blackpool. They’ve only scored one goal on the road in their last ten games in the Prem. Blackpool will be well up for it in their first home game and I think they’ll get a point.
Newcastle are a fair bet to win at Wolves at 2/1.Having destroyed Villa last week they’ll fancy themselves to get something here, and they’ll be in no doubt these are the games they’ve got to win if they want to stay up. With the monster Andy Carroll up front they’ve got a good target man, and with support from Nolan and Gutierrez they could score a few here.
Good luck gambling and no I don’t reimburse you if you put the bet on and it loses 🙂
