Newcastle United supporters have been pretty despondent in the Transfer Tavern in recent times, what with their team missing out on signing Daniel Sturridge on Monday, as well as bowing out of the FA Cup at the hands of Chelsea the day before.
Rafa Benitez’s men have added just one player to their squad this month in the form of Kenedy, but looked set to land Liverpool’s Sturridge on Monday only for Premier League rivals West Brom to nip in ahead of the North East giants to secure his services until the end of the season. And with the Magpies having lost 3-0 to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, there is much doom and gloom among our resident Newcastle fans at the moment, several of whom are sincerely hoping that their side can add reinforcements to their squad before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
And one man who could well be on his way to St James’ Park is Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, as the Magpies have reportedly asked about a possible loan deal for the centre-back.
The 26-year-old is already low down on Pep Guardiola’s pecking order such has been the form of John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, and Vincent Kompany this season, but the arrival of Aymeric Laporte looks set to leave the Frenchman a surplus to requirements.
And Benitez’s Newcastle are reportedly eyeing up a loan move for the defender, in news which has stimulated quite a bewildered response from Magpies supporters on Twitter…

Can already see Charnleys disgusting little smug face when we get Mangala or another random centre half we dont need in and he thinks he should be praised for it. #NUFC
