The Tottenham fans were far from pleased with their side’s performance in the FA Cup this weekend after they drew 1-1 with Newport County at Rodney Parade.
Mauricio Pochettino almost suffered a shocking setback in his bid to win his first trophy as a Tottenham manager on Saturday evening, but Harry Kane spared Tottenham’s blushes in the final ten minutes by scoring a crucial equaliser to take the 4th round tie to a replay. The supporters were bitterly disappointed by the result as the burden of an extra fixture could prove costly to their Champions League ambitions this season.
And Tottenham’s bid to finish in the top-four could be decisively dented by an injury to Harry Kane this season, as Pochettino only has Fernando Llorente to call upon in the event of Kane’s absence from first-team selection.
With that to consider, it seems foolish that Tottenham don’t appear to be in the market for a new striker this month. However, a handful of the Spurs faithful have suggested that the club would be wise to consider a move for Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho (valued at £13.5 million by Transfermarkt) after he scored a brace in The Foxes FA Cup victory last Saturday.
The Nigerian talent has struggled to cement a place in Claude Puel’s starting line-up this season due to strong competition from Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki, and some of The Lilywhites faithful believe their club missed an opportunity by not signing him last summer.
Here’s what the Tottenham supporters had to say about the potential of signing Iheancho…
In fairness up against Vardy.
Would of liked him as game changer at spurs. Better alternative to come on than lorente

I did not get it at the time when there was no interest: Iheanacho did not have to start for Spurs, but would be a plus sub with 15-20 minutes remaining.

Maybe felt technically or physically not up to leading the line. Pep happy to let him go too and not getting much PL game time so must have weaknesses we can’t see. I see a Defoe in him though.

Said exactly this to my brother when watching the game yesterday, think he’s a great little player with bags of potential

I said this all summer long, ridiculous we weren’t even in for him! Would have been the perfect back-up. #COYS
