Manchester United are one of the most successful clubs in world football, with a trophy laden last three decades propelling them into the realms of the most successful ever.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils dominated, especially domestically, delivering Premier League title after Premier League title with a team he simply kept on rebuilding and making into a success over the years.
One of the key components of Ferguson’s most successful teams was midfield general and captain Roy Keane, and our landlord here in the Tavern, much like many United fans, thinks the club have failed to replace the Irishman ever since he moved on in the mid 2000s.
However, this January represents a chance to put that right, and with United expected to make moves in the market, our landlord thinks it’s the perfect time to go out and capture Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who has developed into one of the finest all round midfielders in Europe.
At 26, he should be coming into his prime over the next few seasons, and honing his craft at a club like United could propel him into the elite of world football.
Tenacious, full of energy, but excellent with the ball, Jorginho would appear to have everything needed to become a dominant central midfielder in the English game, and if United can manager to facilitate a deal for the Italian international, they may finally have solved the riddle of replacing their former captain.
