With Arsenal going along quite nicely in the Premier League and showing some resolve in midweek to squeeze a 2-2 draw out of their game with Chelsea, Gunners fans can be fairly content going into 2018.
Arsene Wenger’s men will be looking to get themselves back in and among the top four this season and reclaim a spot back in the Champions League, while they will also be hoping for some success in the Europa League.
The Gunners fans here in the Tavern will be hoping for some good news in the January transfer window, and our landlord thinks there’s a few players out there who could be brought in to do a good job for Wenger.
One such player who fits this mould is current Burnley and former Brentford central defender James Tarkowski, who has been in excellent form this season for Sean Dyche’s Clarets, stepping into the shoes vacated by Michael Keane in the summer.
Tarkowski has shown real improvement under Dyche, and is firmly establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top defensive performers, delivering consistent showings week after week as the Clarets surprisingly challenge for a European spot.
Arsenal’s defensive frailties were still there for all to see against Chelsea, and Tarkowski could plug a big gap in the centre of the Gunners backline, while crucially being available to play in the Europa League too.
Gunners fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
