The Newcastle United flop who will surely be axed after yet another poor season away on-loan

Newcastle United are back in the big-time and we’ll see them mixing with some of the biggest clubs in England once again next season.

The Magpies successfully secured their return to the Premier League having won the Championship title last time out but moving forward, it’s well known amongst their supporters lining the bar that the squad still needs to be improved.

And part of that will be getting rid of some of the deadwood that already resides in the North East and one player that might be at risk of the axe in the coming weeks is French midfielder Henri Saivet.

The midfielder has failed to make an impression having joined the club two years ago and another loan stint in France last season did little to reinvigorate his fledgling career.

He spent the entire campaign with Saint Etienne last season and he didn’t go down too well back in his homeland either, which means with years still remaining on his current deal at Newcastle, it’s going to be tough for him to break back in under Rafa Benitez.

Of course, at 26-years-old, there’s still time for him to turn his career back around and start showing the form that led Newcastle to bring him to the club in the first place.

But it’s looking seriously unlikely that he’ll be part of Rafa’s first-team plans next season. If he was deemed surplus to requirements in the Championship, there’s little chance of him getting into the first-team week-in, week-out in the top tier.

He’s a big earner on around £35,000-a-week and right now, he’s the sort of player Rafa should be thinking about moving on sooner rather than later.

Saivet is obviously a decent enough player but he hasn’t done enough to prove his worth to the Magpies and they need to cut ties this summer.
