The next Pedro: 96% of polled Chelsea fans want 17-year-old ace to replace Spanish winger

Chelsea are a team that needs to look to the future. The past few years at Stamford Bridge have been tumultuous at best, and stability is required. However, for that to come, the Blues must think ahead, and securing a team for the present and the long-term is important as a result.

As a result, we recently made the case that English winger Callum Hudson-Odoi deserves a first-team role, and we suggested that he’d be the perfect replacement for Pedro, who looked poor last season. Chelsea fans, it seems, are in agreement.

We asked fans whether replacing Pedro with Hudson-Odoi is something that they would like to see, and of those polled fans, a whopping 96% voted in favour of the switch.

Contrastingly, just 4% seem to be against it, perhaps due to his lack of experience in the English top flight.

Certainly, that is a consideration that needs to be made, but Hudson-Odoi has proven that he’s up to the task of being a Chelsea star. He’s been dominant in the developmental system at the club, and during one of his few appearances in the first team last season, he looked very good indeed.

Offering brilliant pace and technique, he looks ready to be an offensive asset for the Blues, and alongside someone like Eden Hazard, he could be devastating.

He’s not going to be able to make a huge impact immediately, of course, but with the long-term in mind, it does make sense.
