The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting another exciting summer of business from manager Jose Mourinho, but are hoping it’s a little less stressful than last year’s saga surrounding Paul Pogba.
Well, there’s good news on that front as, according to reports from Spanish newspaper Marca (via Sport Witness), Champions League winners Real Madrid are ready to sell United target Alvaro Morata, so long as the Red Devils meet their £80m asking price.
Reports earlier this week suggested that, in the wake of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann putting pen-to-paper on a new deal, Morata had move to the top of Mourinho’s wish-list.
Another summer of big business seems key to the former Chelsea manager’s plans at Old Trafford and our landlord reckons he won’t settle for another season outside the top four in the Premier League, regardless of what other silverware may come the way of Manchester.
Morata has grown frustrated under the guise of manager Zinedine Zidane who, having brought him back from Juventus last summer, has stuck with Karim Benzema as his first choice this season, despite some questionable performances.
United fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of these claims? Should Mourinho just fork out the money Madrid want and get the deal done or will this be another saga? Let us know below…
