The Only Football Tip Sheet Utd Fans Will Ever Need…

This dear readers is the first of what will prove to be a fascinating series of columns provided exclusively to The Tavern by The Sportsman.

Who?

Good question and one easily answered. The man providing the information has received these letters recently from be365 and William Hill…

‘Playing cautiously is the best way at the start of the football season so I thought I would illustrate a way to profit from trading Manchester United’s matches in the Premier League.

This Saturday the Red Devils are at home to West Ham United and are a very prohibitive and under-priced 1-6. I will back them though. Why you may ask? Simply as a trading option.

I have observed the United prices through last season and the start of this season against teams who are markedly inferior. By markedly inferior I mean sides who finished the previous season in the bottom half of the league or were newly promoted.

In their League opener against Newcastle, Manchester United kicked off on Betfair at 1.22. The match started as expected, with the United having most possession, displaying crisp passing and taking the game to their visitors.

They got their first goal on 33 minutes but after 27 minutes of the game had lapsed they were still 1.27 to back. That’s almost a third of the game and only a 5 tick difference and it is in tandem with their matches last season against weaker opponents.

Backing United to win against teams of inferior strength can on most occasions give you almost a free bet in the first 25 minutes owing to the slow time decay in their price as they go on the attack.

More confidence can be taken from their home games where the chances of their opponents opening the scoring are less.

Forwarding to the finale of United matches at Old Trafford brings in strategy two.
Between both strategies almost half the time of the match is covered. This one is simple enough. In season 2009-2010 a goal was scored in the last 15 minutes in over 71% of their Premier League matches.

That has continued this season with both United games played so far this season resulting in goals after 75 minutes and it is another in running tool to help make you money from the Red Devils’.
