The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a video on the Leeds United website, where Pablo Hernandez has thanked the fans for their support over the last couple of years as he looks forward to the next two seasons at Elland Road. The Spaniard has signed a two-year extension that keeps him at the club until 2020 when he’ll be 35-years-old and will likely be preparing to hang up his boots.

The Leeds fans propping our bar up will have been dreaming of Pablo Hernandez playing for them in the Premier League at some point throughout the season. Whilst that dream has been looking less and less likely as 2018 rolled around, the club now has two more years of Hernandez as they continue to eye up a Premier League promotion push. This season presented a brilliant chance to regain their top-flight status, although things went very wrong very quickly.
The Elland Road faithful came into the new year with hopes of finishing in a playoff place. Thomas Christiansen had given the cub a solid base to build off and results throughout the festive period had been kind to the Whites. Things quickly turned sour though, as Christiansen was sacked in February following a 4-1 loss to Cardiff, leading to the club appointing Barnsley’s Paul Heckingbottom. The club have now won just three games in their last 14 and look a very long way away from gaining promotion back to the Premier League.
