The Player Ratings : Liverpool vs Newcastle

Brad Jones: I don’t particular rate this Keeper at all and today’s display didn’t change my opinion of him. Could have made it harder for Cabaye, although it was a terrific. strike. Score: 6.5.

Wisdom: Another confident display by the youngster. Didn’t look out of place at the back. Will surely be looking to give Glen Johnson a run for his money when he returns to full match fitness. Score: 7.0.

Skrtel: A Confident display by the Slovakian. Come on leaps and bounds since his first couple of games under Rodgers. Becoming a more calm and composed player in possession. Score: 7.5

Agger: Never really saw much of Agger which you would normally assume to be a bad thing. However since he is a defender you can’t really say it is such a bad thing. Maybe needed to stamp his authority a bit more in the game. Score: 6.5

Enrique: I really want to say good things about Enrique as he does seem to possess all the qualities to make a good full back. However his complacency, dodgy decision making and one man escapades leave his defense vulnerable at times. Which is why I highly doubt that Erinque will still be playing at Liverpool come january, at the very least not as a regular if he does stay. Score 5.5

Suso:  Never really got in the game, got out muscled a number of times. Was rightly substituted in the second half. Score: 5.0

Allen:  Not enough penetration in the final-third of the park. I believe he needs to do more of that. Apart from that a tidy display as usual. Score : 7.0

Sahin: Had moment, but few and far between. Was right to take him off when he did. Score 6.0

Sterling: The bright spark in Liverpool’s play. Played havoc with Simpson and Stanton on ocassions.  Come on leaps and bounds since been given his opportinuntity and boy he deserves it. Think one of the areas he could improve on would be to give more support to Surez but apart from that great showing.  Score: 7.5

Gerrard: Starting to lose the amount of influence he has on games. However as you can see his passion for Liverpool is undoubted, summed up by his urgency to get Liverpool the goal that would have won the game, had it come. Score: 7.0

Suarez: The urguagian shown again today exactly what it means to be a handful. Constantly testing the Newcastle defense and was given his reward when Enrique’s exquisite cross was matched by an even better finish. Undoubtedly today’s man of the match. Score 8.5

Shelvey: Strong,  and Physical. Exactly what Liverpool needed at the time. Didn’t have much of an impact, but I think there is good things to come from this lad. Score 6.5

Downing: Showed a bit more desire to his play in the last few outings, today included. Wasn’t on long enough to have an impact though as he increasingly looks to be getting shipped out of the door. Score 6.0

Krul: Mr Reliable yet again for Newcastle. Look very confident after a just few scares. By far Newcastle’s best player. They will do good to keep hold of him. Score 7.5

Simpson: Total Liability. Didn’t look comfortable in either of the positions he played tonight as he got skin’ed by both Sterling and Enrique. Score: 5.0

Taylor: Mr Newcastle. Solid as a rock. 7.0

Coloccini: Had a frustrating game after been given the ring-around a number of times by Liverpool number 7.  Ended up with the eventual red card which was  Deserved. Score 5.0

Saton: Seems a very decent fullback, closed down Sterling a number of times when he reverted to the right wing. Was unfortunate to be kept on defensive duty or else he would of been able to show his attacking ability. Score 6.0

Perch: Did anyone see this bloke? I tried my hardest to spot him.. must of gone home. Score 4.5

Cabaye: By far Newcastle’s best player. Run the show today until getting subbed off. Not sure why though, bit of a defensive move. Score 7.5

Guterrez: Aggression, drive. Provided a bit of stability in the Newcastle midfield. Score 6.0

Ben Arfa: Provided the Guile and Finesse of Newcastle play. However as Newcastle had the ball very little, I have to say that he didn’t have much of a impact. Which is a compliment to Liverpool. Score 6.0

Ba: Taken off not long after half time. Hold the ball up when asked, but apart from that didn’t trouble Liverpool. Score 5.0

Cisse: Didn’t do much at all. Score 5.o

Ameobi: Looked bright. However he never looked as if he was going to score tonight. Score 6.5

Ferguson: Brought on to stem the flow. Look a tidy player, however he didn’t have much of an impact. Score 5.5
