The interest in Sampdoria star Giampaolo Pazzini has intensified according to The Daily Mirror as Spurs, Man City and Palermo have entered the race to sign the 25-year-old star.
The Italian international is valued at around £22million but this has not put off any potential suitors. Chelsea’s interest is already known but Sampdoria as are only willing to do a deal if Pazzini is loaned back to them for the rest of the season. If Chelsea are not willing to accept these terms then Man City or Spurs may hijack the deal. Chelsea’s need for a striker is pressing, so a deal that sees the player return to Italy until the summer would not be in their best interests.
Roberto Mancini is known to be an admirer of Pazzini and he may well be willing to bid for the player and acquiesce to Sampdoria’s demands. Alternatively, Manchester City may just up the bid to compensate Pazzini’s club for an earlier than expected departure.
Harry Redknapp may also be interested in the Italian but his movements in the transfer market have been somewhat limited by Daniel Levy. Redknapp will have to first offload Roman Pavlyuchenko before making a move for Pazzini and even then he may priced out of the move given that he is unlikely to recoup the whole of the fee paid out to bring the Russian to London in the first place.
Chelsea were unsure about the deal to loan Pazzini back to Sampdoria, but the interest from other clubs may force their hand and they may agree to the terms of the deal.
