Southampton have gotten their Premier League campaign off to a solid enough start under their new manager, and look once again like having enough to secure a good finish in the table come next May.
The Saints are always a tough team to beat for any side in the top flight, and despite often selling some of their top stars, they continually manage to bring in replacements and perform to a high level.
Our landlord here at the Tavern has been impressed by how they go about their business for some time now, and he thinks this season could see them challenge in the top half of the table. Key to this he thinks is the return to fitness and form of one man.
That man? Strike ace Charlie Austin.
The former QPR man missed plenty of last season through injury but has since returned this year to give the Saints another vital attacking option in the final third.
His goalscoring prowess make him an excellent player to have around the squad, and his late penalty winner against West Ham will have given him an excellent confident boost going into the international break.
If Austin can keep hitting the back of the net then he will be hard to leave out for new manager Pellegrino, and his goals will no doubt play a big part in just where the Saints will end up finishing come the end of the campaign.
Southampton fans, do you agree? Can Austin fire you to success? Let us know!
