With Arsenal apparently negotiating final terms with 17-year old Belgian sensation Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea are rumoured to be plotting a sensational swoop of their own despite being cited by isolated sources as the actual favourites to sign Lukaku.
16-year old left-winger Jordan Lukaku is in the same mould as Romelu, but has yet to truly dazzle and match the statements of intent made by his footballing prodigy of a brother.
There are no immediate statistics available at domestic for the Belgian U-16 international (for whom he has scored one goal in seven appearances), but Arsenal did express interest in Jordan back in August, meaning that he can’t be half bad.
At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, Chelsea are certain to be on the lookout for new blood sooner rather than later, and how else to ‘keep up with the Joneses’ than copy someone’s homework?
Giving this somewhat tenuous rumour some weight however, is a statement made by Jordan during a “best player” election shown live on Belgian TV back in January. During a mini-documentary about the Lukaku brothers, Jordan stated:
“Our biggest dream is to face each other in the Premier League, Jordan with Arsenal and Romelu with Chelsea!!!!”
Well they might get their wish, but maybe not quite as expected…
