Liverpool are making a good fist of fighting for a place in the top four this season, as Jurgen Klopp has been blessed with a wealth of attacking options at his disposal.
The Reds were, at the time of writing, preparing for a crucial home FA Cup tie with Everton this weekend, and with the Anfield crowd desperate for trophies, the FA Cup could well represent a massive chance for Klopp to deliver the famous trophy back to Anfield.
January is now here though, and the Reds will be having nervous feelings around some of their stars such as Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane, and while the addition of Virgil Van Dijk is an excellent one, our landlord here at the Tavern thinks a few more quality signings could be needed.
Liverpool have a rich history of having top strikers, and despite Roberto Firmino playing well this term, he’s not quite in the same bracket as the likes of Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez from recent years.
Our landlord thinks that the Reds should delve into the market again to sign PSG forward Edinson Cavani, who has been in excellent form for the French giants this season.
Cavani has long been touted for a move to the Premier League, and entering his 30s, he might well be open to the challenge of making the move to Anfield and trying to fire Klopp’s side to success. There’s little doubting his ability and goalscoring prowess, but he also brings so much more to the fold, and would be a superb addition.
He might cost plenty, but he’s the sort of player who really can take Liverpool to the next level.
