The title could depend on it: Why Chelsea must pip City to this stunning £35million signing

Chelsea having been making waves in the transfer market of late and it’s time Antonio Conte started asserting his dominance in the transfer window as his rivals start making signings.

The Blues fans here in the Tavern have already watched on as Manchester City have started their own summer spending spree and the Chelsea supporters here at the bar are now waiting for Antonio Conte to spring into action in the coming days and weeks.

Whilst Chelsea did excellently to secure the title last season, they’re going to have to keep up with the competition and moving forward, they really need to improve their ranks as much as everyone else around them.

And there’s one man the Blues have been linked with in recent weeks who could turn them into a real force next season. The man in question? Roma’s £35million-rated defender Antonio Rudiger,

The Roma defender is reportedly close to a move to England with Chelsea but with Manchester City reportedly close to making a late hijack attempt, it’s important Chelsea wrap up this signing sooner rather than later.

The Blues utilised a three-at-the-back to often devastating success last season and the signing of Rudiger seems to suggest Conte is going to stick to his guns this time around. Should the Belgian come in, it’s more than likely set to end the Blues career of unlucky Kurt Zouma, who, until his broken leg, had been on the fringes of the first-team.

But Rudiger is a player who is quick, ridiculously strong and a man that is known to read the game extremely strongly too.

This could be a huge signing for one of the Blues but Conte needs to ensure it’s Chelsea who win the race this time out.

Chelsea fans- how good a coup would this be? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
