The Top 5 Heading For The Door Marked ‘Exit’

It seems Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is likely to wield the axe this summer as he looks to remove the fringe players from his squad who haven’t established themselves at the Emirates. This will be a move that most Arsenal fans will feel is overdue at the club as a barren run of 6 years without a trophy continues into the upcoming season.

Patience levels of the manager and the fans seem to be on completely different levels at the North London club – Frenchmen Wenger seems to hold onto the hope of players’ abilities blossoming while fans are quick to show disapproval – gaining them a reputation for being highly critical of individual players over the years.

However it is reported even Wenger’s perseverance with some players within his side is starting to waver, instead he is looking to show them the door and bring in fresh faces to rejuvenate The Gunners, a move which he hopes could lead them towards a significant trophy and increase their title ambitions.

Transfer business is already high in the thoughts of Wenger who has today seen the verification of Podolski’s eminent transfer confirmed by the strikers club FC Cologne.

This signing shows Arsenal are being pro-active in their transfer dealings, seemingly learning the lessons of failed transfer windows in the recent past. So with players being targeted to come into the club, Wenger also has a good idea of who he wants to be exiting with the following players most likely to be transfer listed.

Manuel Almunia

After a string of high-profile calamities between the sticks for Arsenal the Spaniard has been frozen out this term completely, losing his place to Wojciech Szczesny who has cemented his place as Wenger’s first choice. He had a short loan spell with West Ham back in October which has been his only playing time this season and with his contract expiring in the summer – he is sure to be the first casualty in Wenger’s clearout.

Nicklas Bendtner

Quoted as hailing himself as one of the world’s finest strikers, the Dane in reality certainly hasn’t met the standards he seems to think he is at. The 24-year-old was misfiring frequently to the fans frustrations at the Emirates which saw him shipped out on a season-long loan to Sunderland. Having failed to really set Wearside alight it looks as if his time at Arsenal will surely be coming to an end this summer with The Gunners.

Carlos Vela

Struggling to see much game time with Arsenal the Mexican was loaned out to La Liga club Real Sociedad for the season. He has impressed in his time at Basque Country club where he is currently there top goalscorer with 11 goals this term,  this showing the forwards clear ability. However the 23-year-old is recently quoted as saying he doesn’t want to return to Arsenal quite adamantly -something which Wenger won’t be best pleased about which may see him cash in on the player.

Sebastien Squillaci

Several high-profile mistakes have led the experienced Frenchmen to seeing very few appearances this term. Bought from Sevilla for £3million in 2010 to try and solve the Arsenal’s defensive frailties – he instead added to them. Having failed to ship him out of the club in previous transfer windows, Wenger will be looking to seal his exit this time round.

Marouane Chamakh

The Moroccan forward came to Arsenal after impressing at Bordeaux and started his career in North London brightly. However the unorthodox striker’s form dipped dramatically and has since failed to leave a mark on the Premier League like he did in France.

After infuriating Wenger recently after being pictured in a shisha bar after Arsenal’s defeat to QPR, it looks as though Chamakh has sealed his fate with former club Bordeaux looking to bring back their man.
