It looks as if West Ham, The Academy of Football, are set to mount a bid for Premiership survival with a double swoop for Demba Ba of Hoffenheim, and Peguy Luyindula of French giants PSG. Ba, having reportedly gone on strike to try to force a move to the Premiership and to East London, could move in this transfer window.
But if West Ham are to sign Luyindula then they will have to beat West Brom to his signature. If I was him, it would obvious to me where I’d rather go. But The Baggies may be concentrating more on their near neighbours, their focus being on Aston Villa striker John Carew. Carew is still a solid Premiership performer, but should Villa let him leave? And Villa fans, how much more of Gerard Houllier can you take?
It looks like it could be a busy last two weeks of January, especially if you’re a manager shopping for Premiership survival.
