The unexpected £7m-rated Manchester United star who holds the key to success for Jose Mourinho next season

It was a mixed season for Manchester United last time out, with the Red Devils struggling in the league but doing their best work in the cup competitions.

Jose Mourinho’s team wonthe Carling Cup and the Europa League last time out, securing their place in the Champions League in the process.

But speaking to the dozens of Red Devils fans lining the bar here in the pub, it’s clear that league success next season is high on the priority of many supporters. Chelsea strolled to the Premier League title last season and the Reds fans in the Tavern want to see a closer race in the 17/18 campaign.

And there’s one man they think holds the key to success in any league campaign and that’s £7m-rated defender Antonio Valencia, who enjoyed some of the best form we’ve seen from him last time out.

The Ecuadorian international shone in at right-back as United romped to the Europa League title, providing a real attacking outlet all season whilst remaining equally solid at the back too.

It’s a tough job to do at any level but the 31-year-old, who has been converted from a winger to a defender, has taken to it like a duck to water and looks a much better player for it too.

He might not be Ibrahimovic or Pogba but ask any United fan about his value in the team and the work he did on the right hand side meant he became as valuable as any of United’s bigger stars last season.

Another strong campaign from him could potentially hold the key to more success next season but he’s a player that remains very much underrated but it seems he’s more than happy to keep hold of that title as his form gets better and better.

United fans- how highly do you rate Valencia? Leave your thoughts down below!
