The ‘worst’ Chelsea XI of the modern era

sutton.jpgChelsea fans have been through more than most in the last ten years. Roman Abramovich took control of the club in 2003, and since then has signed some of the greatest players to ever play in the Premier League.

The likes of Petr Cech, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard have been mainstays in a Chelsea side that has at times dominated English football and done so in style. But going back further still, you realise there has been some utter dross walk through the Stamford Bridge doors, and at no small cost.

For every Claude Makelele it appears there is a Juan Sebastian Veron, and when compiling this all-time Chelsea worst XI one thing that was particularly noticeable was that Stamford Bridge appears to be a graveyard for formerly prolific strikers – think Kezman, Mutu, Shevchenko, Pizarro, Sutton and most recently Fernando Torres.

Chelsea fans have endured a tough season, so going through this may prove a cathartic excercise. No matter how tough things may have been this season, at least you don’t have these players turning out for you week in week out on a regular basis anymore.

Click on Stamford Bridge to reveal quite possibly the ‘worst’ Chelsea eleven of the modern era.
