Despite Chelsea's Boxing Day win over Watford, the Blues' problems persist. In particular, Chelsea have a real issue in the attack. Alvaro Morata was not selected once again against the Hornets, and that hints that he's not a part of Maurizio Sarri's plans long-term.

So, in January, bringing in a new striker must be a priority for the club, and Argentinian ace Mauro Icardi would surely be the best man for the job.

The Inter Milan ace has enjoyed a couple of stunning seasons over in Serie A, having bagged a whopping 29 goals last term. He's been in good form this season, too, with 9 league goals already - far more than Alvaro Morata.

It's not just his goals, though. It's Icardi's strength, power and pace that really make his game as good as it is, whilst he's also very comfortable with the ball at his feet when driving towards goal.

Significantly, at just 25-years-old, Icardi's a player that is only now getting into the prime of his career, and so the Blues wouldn't be investing in a talent that is past his best. He's only going to get better, for a few years at least, and given the long-term plan at Stamford Bridge, that's important.

Chelsea have yet to replace Diego Costa, and that's something that will continue to plague them. They can't rely on Eden Hazard every week, because eventually, he's going to tire or be unavailable. They need matchwinners. Icardi won't be cheap, but he'd be a solution - and a fantastic one at that.
