It seems to be the same old worries being discussed by the Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern, year in, year out.
For the past five seasons, the Black Cats have been fighting for their lives and even though cats usually have nine lives, our landlord believes that this run of relegation threatened seasons is ridiculous.
The Mackems currently sit bottom of the table and are three points from safety which leads to many fingers being pointed at manager, David Moyes, who had led this Sunderland side to this weak league position.
On top of a poor league position, the Scot has been less than impressive in trying to strengthen his squad in this January’s transfer window with many of the Sunderland fans at the bar calling for Moyes to get the chop.
Without Jermain Defoe, it is obvious to see that Moyes wouldn’t still have a job. The 33-year-old striker has bagged 60% of the basement side’s goals this season, a staggering statistic which shows in Defoe, there will always be hope at the Stadium of Light.
