Steve Bruce, Roy Keane and Nemanja Vidic certainly are all big names to follow when it comes to receiving the captain’s armband on a permanent basis, so it’s definitely a big deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
Indeed, our punters think that surely the likelihood of a Michael Carrick retirement is coming in the summer, with the role of the United leader being, once again, up for grabs, there are plenty of suggestions floating about the Old Trafford terraces.
Our landlord believes for these two youth academy players, it’s far to early in both their United careers to be considered for next season. However, not since Gary Neville, have The Red Devils had a captain from their famous academy, and before that, you’d have to go way back to Sir Bobby Charlton’s stint from 1967-’73.
