Southampton fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can avoid relegation from here on in, with Mark Hughes now leading the club’s survival bid.
Southampton made a huge mistake when they decided to appoint Mauricio Pellegrino in the summer months, as the Argentine has taken the Saints towards relegation to the Championship. But, the club have now looked to former Stoke City manager Mark Hughes as their saviour, with eight games left in the Premier League campaign.
However, there are still a number of players that need to step up their game from here on in to help their survival bid, as the international break comes at a perfect time for Hughes to work with his new team. Indeed, with Southampton desperate for a positive run of results when the Premier League resumes, many of our local residents are still unsure on whether appointing the 54-year-old was the correct decision.
