The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are aiming big next year in their new stadium, after getting a taste of the good stuff over recent seasons. Indeed, having experienced the high life, our local Lilywhites don’t want another season like the first half of this one.
Many in the pub believe it’s about time Spurs upped their levels in the Premier League, despite all their brilliant showings of late. The temporary Wembley residents have certainly flirted with winning the Premier League for a couple of seasons now, but have always crumbled at the last ebbings.
Although this campaign has been largely disappointing until their recent upturn in fortunes, they are now in the top-four places as they enter the last few months of the season – mainly thanks to Chelsea’s demise. Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino would love to win the English title, especially having been so close over the years.
To do that, he needs people to chip in with goals from wider areas. Too often, there is an over-reliance on Harry Kane despite the presence of a number of wide attackers, who could certainly look to Liverpool’s Mo Salah as an inspiration. Talented as he is, why can’t Spurs’ lot do the same?
