Arsenal faced what was effectively a dead rubber fixture last night at home to Qarabag and coasted to a routine 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.
On paper, Arsenal’s fixture was completely devoid of notable pre-match talking points, and the outcome of the result did little to change that.
However, there was one major story to emerge from proceedings as Bukayo Saka, 17, was handed his full debut for the club.
Saka had a short cameo against Vorskla in Arsenal’s last Europa League fixture, but Unai Emery opted to deploy him from the outset last night.
The exciting young winger was impressive throughout the evening and he earned esteemed praise from plenty of Arsenal supporters for his efforts.
Perhaps the only thing missing from his standout performance was a goal, as he missed a fantastic opportunity to become Arsenal’s youngest ever goal scorer in Europe, but he smashed his effort straight into the goalkeeper’s face.
It was a shame that Saka didn’t manage to cap his performance with a record-breaking goal, but the promise he showcased throughout the game gave the fans on Twitter plenty of reason to feel incredibly optimistic about his future.
Here’s what some of the Arsenal fans had to say about Saka’s full debut against Qarabag…

Some encouraging signs from Saka even though he should have scored. Interesting Medley playing at left-back – he's played as a winger before so has knowledge of how to play in wide areas.

I think it’s important not to overreact but Bukayo Saka is the next Ballon d’Or winner.
