Chelsea had a quiet window, but towards the end of the summer, business really picked up. A couple of new players came in, and over the last few weeks a few loan departures have been confirmed – like Michy Batshuyi’s switch to La Liga and Tiemoue Bakayoko’s move to Italy.
However, it appears as though the final day of the Premier League window was even more busy for Chelsea than we were led to believe.
According to Goal, Tottenham had a significant offer for one of Chelsea’s best young players rejected on deadline day. A £25 million move was apparently made by Spurs for young Tammy Abraham, with Mauricio Pochettino apparently viewing him as the ideal back-up to Harry Kane.
Abraham had a mixed first season in the Premier League last year, having failed to impress for Swansea, but Pochettino clearly still sees his talent. Evidently, Chelsea do too, given that the bid – a sizeable one for an unproven player – was rejected. His goalscoring record both at youth level and in the Championship has been very good – and if he’s able to prove his worth in the top flight, Chelsea’s decision could prove to be a very good one.
Naturally, Chelsea fans online have been reacting to the news, and they’re very happy that Tottenham didn’t get their man. They have a lot of faith in young Tammy.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…

…I think that's right, we shouldn't sell/loan our players to our closest rivals… Think about it @SiPhillipsSport
