Liverpool travelled to Belgrade on Tuesday evening for a fixture which appeared straightforward on paper, but a first-half brace from Milan Pavkov consigned Liverpool to their 2nd defeat of their Champions League campaign.
It was a result which few predicted prior to kick-off and Liverpool will be feeling slightly shell-shocked following the result. With four fixtures played the Reds are facing a nervy looking couple of games to round off their campaign at home to Napoli and away at the imperious Paris Saint-Germain.
Naturally, the supporters were absolutely furious by the result and they took to Twitter to single out a handful of individuals, but it was Adam Lallana who came in for the most scathing attack from the Liverpool supporters.
The 34 time capped England international has struggled with lengthy injury problems in recent years and it’s fair to say it showed against Red Star.
The creative flair and incisive vision which earned him a move to Anfield were nowhere to be seen and the supporters were absolutely incensed by the quality of his performance.
And if the reaction on Twitter is anything to go by, it seems unlikely that Jurgen Klopp will be handing him a starting berth anytime soon.
Here’s what the Liverpool fans had to say about Lallana’s performance tonight…
Pathetic performance and you know my thoughts on Lallana but this has to be the end of him

Even Origi will do a better job than Lallana now.

Lallana offers absolutely nothing in this game.

Lallana is the Carmelo Anthony of football. Total ball stopper. He needs to go. We need a creative force in midfield.

How is lallana still on this pitch ?

Adam Lallana needs to be sold ASAP

Adam Lallana is so poor.

Hopefully that’s the last time Lallana is ever seen in a Liverpool jersey #LFC

Lallana's demise is sad to see because it wasn't long ago that he was impressing with his dynamism, nifty footwork and constantly leading the press. But he should be seventh choice now.

Lallana has a golden crossing opportunity and there's 1 (ONE) player in the box. Disgraceful
