Liverpool are famed for utilising rising talents from their academy but a recent report from Portugal suggests that they could be set to wave goodbye to a huge talent this month.
Indeed, according to a recent report from Portuguese media outlet Ojogo, Rafael Camacho is set to join Sporting Lisbon until the end of next season on a long-term loan deal.
The terms of the agreement also detail a £13.5 million buyout clause, which will become active in the summer window.
Camacho has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 15 appearances for Liverpools U23 side this season, but that has not prevented supporters from expressing their enthusiasm for the deal.
While some supporters were disappointed to hear the report, there were plenty who were eager to point out that a permanent switch would see Liverpool recoup the money they parted with to sign Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer.
And with the likes of Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson also knocking on the door for an opportunity at Anfield, there is no shortage of talent for Klopp to chose from beyond his established senior squad.
Time will tell whether Liverpool will live to regret letting Camacho leave the club, but if Sporting don’t take up the option of concluding permanent deal then supporters may yet see him in action for the Reds.
Here’s what some Liverpool fans on Reddit and Twitter had to say about reports linking Camacho away from the club…
