These Man City fans loved Bernabe’s inclusion against Oxford last night - Manchester City

Carabao Cup holders Manchester City comfortably secured their passage into the fourth round of the competition last night with a 3-0 victory over Oxford United.

Pep Guardiola’s side may have failed in their quest to win an unprecedented quadruple last season but that will not prevent them from dreaming of clinching all four available trophies this time round.

City were handed a relatively straightforward looking tie against League One opposition on their Carabao Cup bow and they made light work of the midweek fixture by coasting to a 3-0 win.

Phil Foden’s complete performance and first goal for the club have dominated the headlines in the aftermath of the fixture, but he was not the only youngster who caught the eye of the Citizens faithful.

Indeed, 17-year-old Adrien Benabe, whom City signed from Barcelona in the summer, was a surprise selection on the substitutes bench and he was introduced into the match for his club debut after 85 minutes in place of Riyad Mahrez.

That the teenager has already been thrown straight into the U23 squad despite only turning 17 in May speaks volumes about how highly he is regarded at the club, and he’s certainly another youngster the supporters will be keeping their eyes on alongside Foden and Brahim Diaz.

Here’s what the Man City fans have had to say about Bernabe’s first involvement for the senior squad…
