Tottenham Hotspur suffered the unfortunate fate of losing the final game before the international break and the supporters face an anxious wait before their side aim to bounce back with a victory against Premier League pace setters Liverpool next weekend.
The international break arrived at an unfortunate time for the club but the two week break has afforded a handful of injured players some well needed time to recover on the training ground. Erik Lamela has remained at Hotspur Way in a bid to return to full fitness and Victor Wanyama has also remained with the club instead of travelling to represent Kenya during the international break as he attempts to build up his fitness ahead of the Liverpool game.
In response to reports that Wanyama has remained in north London to train with Tottenham, the supporters took to Twitter to call for him to make a swift return to first-team football following a succession of unfortunate injuries for the midfield enforcer.
Liverpool and Spurs fans will certainly remember Wanyama’s impact in the previous fixture between the two sides when he came off the bench to slam home a goal-of-the-season contender from 30-yards.
It truly was a sight to behold, but it’s Wanyama’s defensive quality, physical power and ability to drive forward with the ball at his feet which the supporters miss the most.
Exactly when the Kenya international will return to the starting eleven remains to be seen but it’s fair to say the supporters are hoping it will be sooner rather than later.
Here’s what the Tottenham supporters on Twitter have had to say about Wanyama’s return…
Exactly what we needed against Watford

Can't wait to have him back in the side. Absolute rock when fit.

Easily one of the best Tottenham players 16/17 imo

Blighted by injuries last season, it is easy to forget just how important a fit Victor Wanyama can be to our squad for this campaign.
