Deeney has just completed a four-match ban after his second straight red card of the season, but Rafa Benitez is said to be strongly considering a switch for the player. Deeney would address the striking shortage in the north east, but at least two more players are needed if Newcastle are to begin to pull clear of the bottom-three.
