These West Ham fans were fuming with Arthur Masuaku’s performance against Tottenham

West Ham United welcomed Tottenham Hotspur to the London Stadium on Wednesday night for the second time in 11 days, and they found themselves on the wrong end of the result once again.

Indeed, Son Heung-min stepped up to the plate and scored two goals for Tottenham to put his side in cruise control early into the second-half, but a strong fightback from the Hammers and a fine headed goal from Lucas Perez gave them a glimmer of hope of completing a dramatic comeback.

But Fernando Llorente quickly laid those fears to rest with a well taken poachers goal at the near post with 15 minutes left to play, as his strike proved to be the last significant action of the game.

It was a disappointing result for West Ham considering the Carabao Cup represented their best chance of winning a trophy this season, and the supporters turned to Twitter to express their frustration.

Not for the first time, the Hammers faithful fumed at Arthur Masuaku for his performance at left-back.

The Congolese man has caught the attention of fans and pundits alike for his ability to influence the game in the final-third, but there are huge question marks concerning his defensive quality.

Those questions resurfaced once again this evening as Masuaku struggled to convince with the basics of defending throughout the game, although he did provide brief moments of promise when overlapping Michail Antonio.

Masuaki has been a regular starter under Manuel Pellegrini this season but, if he continues to frustrate the supporters with his lacklustre defensive contribution, it may not be too long before Aaron Cresswell comes in to replace him.

Here’s what a selection of West Ham fans had to say about Masuaku’s performance tonight…

Masuaku almost had a stinker
