There hasn’t been much for the Everton fans to shout about in the Transfer Tavern of late due to their side’s failure to qualify for either the FA Cup 5th round or the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Sam Allardyce looks to have steered Everton clear from a relegation battle with 11 fixtures left to play in the Premier League after taking 7 points from a possible 12 in their last 4 Premier League outings. The Toffees now sit just 6 points shy of the magic 40 point mark which all but guarantees survival from the English top-flight.
Due to Everton’s failure to progress from either their Europa League group or the FA Cup 3rd round, the club have embarked on a short trip to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp in the last few days.
Whilst the club have been on their travels, some news emerged regarding the fitness of Eliaquim Mangala (valued at £13.5 million by Transfermarkt) whom the club recently signed on loan from Manchester City on transfer deadline day in January.
According to Sky Sports, Allardyce has confirmed that Mangala could be ruled out for the remainder of the season after damaging ligaments in his knee during Everton’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Mangala’s transfer to Everton has certainly divided opinion amongst the supporters, as plenty of Evertonians believe the French international is not up to the standard required to succeed at Goodison Park, so it’s no surprise that his injury news has been greeted with delight by the majority of fans on Twitter.
Here’s what the Everton fans on Twitter have had to say about Mangala’s injury update…
Might be a blessing for them

Probably done them a favour. Has the physicality to be a great defender but he’s truly awful
