As Watford gear up for the new Premier League season under manager Javi Gracia, the Hornets fans will be hopeful of a better season this time around.

The last few transfer windows have yielded plenty of new players coming through the doors at Vicarage Road, and the fans inside the ground have become accustomed to seeing the club bring in plenty of foreign talent along the way.

With a big money sale of star Brazilian Richarlison currently on the cards, the club will be looking to add some more star power to the ranks in the coming weeks, and one man we at the Transfer Tavern think could be a superb addition for the club is Russian full back Mario Fernandes.

The £18m-rated star was a revelation at the World Cup this summer, contributing to a superb run to the quarter finals for the host nation, getting himself on the scoresheet and making a real name for himself in front of a worldwide audience.

Fernandes was a relatively unknown quantity before the summer, but his stock has now risen, and while he woudn't replace Richarlison in terms of position, he would certainly be a shrewd addition to the club.

Good in both a defensive and attacking capacity, Fernandes would be an excellent piece to the jigsaw for Watford, and would bring something different to the first team right from the off.

Watford fans, what do you think to Fernandes? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
