The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see a player or two move to Anfield in January. It’s been a decent season so far for the Reds, but one or two major signings in January could make all the difference. Given the quality in Liverpool’s first team, Klopp will be keen to continue to add top-tier depth, and one player that would certainly provide that is RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Forsberg would add another facet to an already impressive attack. In particular, as a left-sided player, he could really look to push and replace Sadio Mane – and that can only be a good thing for Liverpool. In many ways, he provides similar traits to the Senegalese winger. Providing incredible dribbling, crossing, passing, pace and – perhaps most impressive – incredible technique, Forsberg is turning into quite the player.
He has been a regular in the Bundesliga this season, and that’s no surprise. He’s one of RB Leipzig’s many talented players, and he recently earned a spot in the coveted top 100 players in the world list by the Guardian, finishing 69th. At 26-years-old, he’s a player that is entering the prime of his career, and Liverpool would be wise to capitalise on his quality.
Rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt, he wouldn’t be cheap, but he’d be worth every penny. Liverpool’s attack is already very solid, but with him in the mix, Klopp’s attacking line would be a joy to watch.
