This 21-goal forward would be the perfect Liverpool signing this summer

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to sign a new forward or two this summer…

Young forward Dom Solanke has already been signed from Chelsea, but our landlord doesn’t think that the Englishman alone will be enough. Rather, he thinks that another young, exciting forward should move to Anfield – and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner could be perfect.

Werner differs from Solanke in that whilst he is young – 21-years-old to be exact – he already has experience at the highest level. He often lead the line throughout much of his debut campaign for RB Leipzig in the 2016/17 season, with 28 starts under his belt, proving his worth in the process. A remarkable record of 21 goals helps to highlight just how efficient he is in front of goal.

It isn’t just his goalscoring record, though. He is also comfortable with the ball at his feet, and has spent much of his career highlighting his technical skill. A fantastic dribbler, Werner is a sight to behold when playing on the counter attack, and that quality has been vital as he has continued to score in the Bundesliga over the last year.

Heading back into the Champions League next season, Liverpool need to start recruiting some quality players that can add to Jurgen Klopp’s limited squad. Offensively, a few reinforcements are essential, and what better way to facilitate that than by the acquisition of some of Europe’s most talented forwards. Solanke will be a hit at Anfield, there is no doubt about that, but Werner will be able to come in and make an immediate impact.

It is too soon to say that he would be the Luis Suarez replacement that Liverpool have needed for years, but given his goalscoring record, he is well on his way…
